Cameron Diaz, Elizabeth Banks and Chris Rock are just some of the celebrities who appear in the new Lionsgate film “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.” A new trailer for the film pokes fun at having babies.
The film is the latest rom-com to go with an ensemble cast. Other efforts include New Line Cinema’s 2010 film “Valentine’s Day, and follow up film “New Year’s Eve.”“Valentine’s Day grossed $110 million even though it was roughed up by the critics, so there is obviously money to be made when you load up enough celebrities in a movie.
Each film charts multiple couples as the negotiate relationships around seminal holidays, known for break ups and makes ups. “What to Expect” takes a slightly different tack. It follows five couples as the go through the throes of having a baby.
Beside the main characters, the film is also punctuated by numerous celebrity cameos from Jennifer Lopez, Cheryl Cole, Taboo of Black Eyed Peas and former Hills reality star Whitney Port. Supermodel Brooklyn Decker also advances her film career another step with a role along with stars Anna Kendrick, Chace Crawford, Dennis Quaid and Matthew Morrison. ‘If I knew I was going to have a rack this gorgeous, I would have gotten knocked up years ago,’ Diaz says in the trailer. “What To Expect When You’re Expecting” hits theaters May 11, 2012.
