Paul Dano will join Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in a new action comedy, according to a report in Variety. The as-yet-to-be-named project, formerly titled Wichita, begins shooting next month in Boston. James Mangold will direct.
The movie centers on a federal agent, portrayed by Cruise, who finds himself teamed with a wholesome and upbeat Midwestern woman, played by Diaz. Dano will play a charming but mysterious scientist whose invention is at the center of Cruise and Diaz's chase.
Dano's stage credits include Things We Want directed by Ethan Hawke seen off-Broadway in 2007 and the 1996 Broadway revival of Inherit the Wind. Additionally, he is in Spike Jonze's upcoming film Where the Wild Things Are and in The Extra Man with Kevin Kline and John C. Reilly.
